Anonymous, the brilliance score is a set number for each puzzle—it is not affected by the number of attempts at solving the words or incorrect words

Anonymous commented
When you guess a nonword, or a word not accepted, it negatively effects the brilliance gained.

Paul, for tournament play, many teams do track this as an estimate of tournament play.
Empirically, there is a roughly 3:1 ratio of brilliance score to words solved.

Paul, in theory, but that’s only if:
A) player never solves already solved puzzles in the archive (accessed by the”...” icon top left of main page)—solving an already solved puzzle gives you additional brilliance BUT does not add to your word or coin count.
B) player never had to reset device (some players lose brilliance points doing this)
Overall, it’s a close enough guide, though.

So, theoretically, one could work from the beginning, knowing the factors, and determine what level anyone is on, just by matching the brilliance.
And, for team and tournament play, can watch member's brilliance and determine just how much they play a week (participation and value to the team).

Bulldog, I'm at level 13,974, still get 6 and 7 letter words, and your equation works perfectly! Excellent job figuring it out! Thanks!

To figure out how much brilliance you can earn for 6 letter puzzles use this formula: 4x6 were x is the number of words.
So 6 words earns 18 brilliance
7 earns 22
8 earns 26
9 earns 30
10 earns 34
11 earns 38
12 earns 42
13 earns 46
14 earns 50
15 earns 54
16 earns 58
17 earns 62
18 earns 66
19 earns 70
20 earns 74For 7 word puzzles use the formula 5x8.
So 6 words earns 22 brilliance
7 earns 27
8 earns 32
9 earns 37
10 earns 42
11 earns 47
12 earns 52
13 earns 57
14 earns 62
15 earns 67
16 earns 72
17 earns 77
18 earns 82
19 earns 87
20 earns 92I did my math wrong on the chart below

5x3 is not right. My word count was off by one.

Bulldog commented
Sometimes the formula for 7 letter puzzles is 5x8, but I don’t know why?

Bulldog commented
I think I cracked the code. The formula used to figure brilliance is as follows. If you have 6 letters available use 4x6 were x is the number of words. When you have 7 letters use 5x3. I have only tested this on six different levels. My Brilliance is 102814 and I am on level 2063. Some people believe Brilliance may be calculated differently based on your level.

Can you jump levels and points

Do missed word try’s count against brilliance points?

I think I figured it out: the number of brilliance points you earn each level (based on my keeping track over the last 30 levels or so) is equal to 4x6, where x is the number of words in the puzzle. Bonus words do not count towards brilliance points the way they do towards star points during tournaments. And when there's an extra coin word (or whatever they're called), those words *do* count as part of the puzzle, because you have to find them to get past the level.
So yeah, a 9word puzzle is 30 brilliance points, a 10word puzzle is 34 brilliance points, an 11word puzzle is 38 brilliance points, etc.
rjrnj1, my equation doesn't match up with your numbers at all, so maybe the equation changes when you get to higher levels? I'm only on level 375. *shrugs*

What has happened to the weekly and all time scoreboard? I have been in long time battles on both levels but just noticed they have both disappeared and been replaced by a " monthly". Just have the team tournament to enjoy.

How are brilliance points earned? What is the criteria for increasing them?

Why can’t I use them to buy rockets or hints... Otherwise they’re useless!
