Wordscapes Tournament Cheating!
Something should be done about it. The three times that I’ve participated in these tournaments, someone appears out of nowhere, ahead of everyone else with a huge score, about 30 minutes before the tournament is over! The only explanation for this happening, is that there is cheating going on! The people at Peoplefun should find a way to STOP this, because it is NOT fair to the rest!!
Something is fishy about the tournaments. Please explain how at the beginning someone can have 1 point. You can only collect points if you complete a level, and each point represents a word. There cannot be only 1 word in a level. I've often wondered how come the other "people" playing only seemed to advanced
when I advanced. Are we really playing against other people?
Some players are mixing up “cheating” at crossword puzzles and sudoku (games you play by yourself and therefore actually cheat when you peek at answers) - with app games played in groups.
Here’s the reality: you cannot cheat at this game unless you break the RULES.
What are the RULES ?
Exactly. Using hints, buying coins, looking up anagrams on the web, playing in airplane mode, etc, are not against the rules.

I finally became so exasperated with cheaters, I decided to do a little “research” of my own. I’m damn good with words ... so I timed myself. Playing absolutely “fair” ... with NO hints ... max is 400 to 500 an hour. Anyone who comes up with much more than that may not be cheating, but they ARE using hints. Which can be bought at 100 coins each.
I’m a stingy old codger, so I’ve never bought coins. I’ve collected over 10,000 coins honestly through playing and all extra little games and of course, the tournament. So I will use a hint very rarely.
But there are honest tricks. Tournaments use words normally not used in classic crosswords. Some foreign words do creep in. I hate Brie, Aioli, Bro ... and Haa, Aha Hah. Ocean is an ordinary word but is really tricky in a scrambled letter puzzle.
I waged a war with someone last week and I wanted to nail down what he was doing. He was very adept with words ... playing in tandem, we pretty well matched speeds. But if I paused to tackle a tricky word, he could pass me. I realized that if he used a hint for each time he had to “work out” a word, he could do it. So could I.
But using hints to my mind is cheating. Yes, making a hint costly is a way to cut down people relying on hints. But allowing them to BUY a pile of coins is wrong. I know it’s a way for game developers to make money, but it allows people to buy their way into top marks in a tournament.
And there is a basic sense of courtesy here. I know in an hour I can surge ahead. My time zone allows me a clock advantage too. But stopping at a 200 to 300 point lead lets the nearest player catch up. It keeps the game going for everyone.
Last week, trying to track down my opponent’s technique, the two of us scuttled the game for everyone else with huge scores of over 6000. I plead guilty to this because I wanted to solve the problem of huge spurts and leads.
Here it is. Anyone playing over 500 words an hour is not playing fair. They’re using piles of hints. And some aim for a 2000 point lead. Well ... where’s the fun in that? I’ve dropped out when there is a gap like that. And so do many others.
Limit the use of hint coins and you’ll get a clean game. I’m happy to challenge the best without a single hint.
Well. If you are bed ridden such as myself and don’t get into the tournament until the last day and you just keep playing - you can pull ahead without cheating. Some people play silly fast though. I’m going to assume they pay to purchase free hints etc. And if they are cheating ..well they aren’t really winning at all

I was ahead by at least 200 points on one round and at the end of that round, someone made up the 200 points and exceeded my score by another 400 points. I don't care how fast you are at word games, it is not possible to make over 600 points in a couple of minutes, tops.
Got 2nd place in my tournament tonight. Did not cheat. I think some people are just faster at word puzzles than others. I know I couldn't do it if it were numbers! Really don't think anyone is cheating, and if they are ... why even care? Play because you enjoy it, and if you don't enjoy it - don't play :/
I I have emailed them five times now in the last five weeks of tournaments in the last 45 minutes somebody jumps up two thousand points to win the tournament. They don't care! I am definitely posting on every social media I can about how they neglect to take care of the people and actually support their game and app what a joke! I am uninstalling it as it is not worth the negativity that these cheaters create and the people who created this game do not care

I observed cheating and won’t be playing the tourneys anymore.
Within 2 hours of the beginning two weeks in a row, this person had 3000 points

Your help is much appreciated.
Thank you very much.

Someone has over 6,000 points and this is due to airplane mode? Ummm... ok. Sick of the cheaters.
Oftentimes in the lead and the. Before the deadline, I cha he my name. I do t think there is really any way to cheat on this game
Playing in Airplane Mode and then connecting to wi-fi later to dump the points you’ve played offline IS NOT CHEATING, it’s strategy and also the game goes twice as fast when there’s no ads. Last night I stored up 900 points on my tablet (which is offline) and I plan on waiting to connect to the wi-fi to dump those points later today.
It’s relatively easy to solve a puzzle in under a minute for a lot of folks, it just takes practice.
I agree but what could they do?
I suggested they make the Tournament like the daily puzzle, so at least you would have to get the right word to get a star, but that would make the game significantly harder for everyone.
I need more levels!!! Plz
I am one of those people and I do not cheat. I usually start Friday nights while I listen to a book. So, sometimes I play for hours and then I win. No cheating.

When I changed phones and phone numbers over the weekend, I used my new phone..Had pasted 214 levels and was upset upon having to start all over from the beginning Joined a tournament and stubbornly in one seating played over 100 games games
I ended up in 2nd place in the tournament. There doesn't have to be cheating , just being bull-headed will help . Also am very good with words...Mare

I love playing Loostool. That guy is an utter inspiration.
There are websites out there that list every word to every puzzle. Why people need to cheat is beyond me. It’s a game. Takes the fun out of it. But people need to feel like a winner no matter what I guess.
It’s easy to get more stars, if you’re in US, everyone in your tournament is from Overseas and in the morning you can catch up to them. THERE!!!!!!
sorry, you will lose your coins and hints, etc but you will find you can accumulate them again quickly. At least you will be able to compete.
