Wordscapes Tournament Cheating!
Something should be done about it. The three times that I’ve participated in these tournaments, someone appears out of nowhere, ahead of everyone else with a huge score, about 30 minutes before the tournament is over! The only explanation for this happening, is that there is cheating going on! The people at Peoplefun should find a way to STOP this, because it is NOT fair to the rest!!
Anonymous, the person playing in airplane mode when it was allowed is not a crook because they still had to solve the puzzles. When everyone is able to do this, it is not cheating.
When one used to play that way, you never knew whether your score was good enough—so it made for unpredictable game play. And yes, it came down to the last tally of the scores. So the leaderboard during the game was indeed somewhat meaningless.
I totally agree it is better not allowing that now for more predictable game play.
We really are on the same page here.
Anonymous, maybe I wasn’t clear. When I first started playing the game, you could play offline. That’s how the game was. It was not cheating. It was a practical thing—it allowed one to still enjoy the game when you couldn’t be in a wifi spot.
Then they changed it so you couldn’t because of what I said. Which is fine. Again, if everyone plays by the same rules it’s not cheating. If they allow offline play for everyone—it’s not cheating.
I tried it just now to test whether what Larry van pelt said was true, because my understanding was you couldn’t. (I never play offline now so I have no idea whether what he says is currently true)
I tried one round as a test and my score didn’t change—so I lose those points. I had to verify that first before I tell someone else that they might, for whatever software glitch or other, may be playing with an advantage.
Anonymous, the game developers evolved the game as they how the airplane mode was being
Just curious, were you playing then when it was allowed? Like I said, that’s when I started and that’s just how the game was back then. It was not cheating at the time, but, like you say, wasn’t logical for the leaderboard. Give the developers credit for improving the game for all those reasons.
So chill my friend—for your info, I played and won my last tournament with no hints, just playing the game. I play because I enjoy solving the puzzles and get the greatest satisfaction when I can do it without hints.
PS I have also not used a hint yet this weekend either.
Omg! my head is paining. Tippytoes, you used the move and now you talk about integrity? Where was this profound integrity when you used
the airplane mode? ( I do agree with the last message). Why would you use it in the first place? Is it fair to the other 99 players? (Irrespective, if a few opponents used it during the tournament, the right way would be to contact PeopleFun to look into it)
Why did the developers introduce an active leaderboard during tournaments? Just tally the final batch results and declare the winner. Your opponent is lured into a false sense of security that the leaderboard depicts the accurate points accumulated by each player. When in reality the crook using airplane mode has amassed considerable amount of points and will dump the result in the final minute.
This is just my opinion going by the principle based approach.
PS. I just played offline and my tournament score never changed. Larry van pelt, if you are truly able to do this still, the I think you do have an unfair advantage since not everyone can. If you have any integrity, knowing this now, you won’t play that way.
Larry van pelt, the game used to allow that, but I think they fixed that now. When it was allowed, I never considered it cheating because everyone could do it. Regardless of whether you were playing online or offline, you still had to solve the puzzles. Scores used to fluctuate widely and were more unpredictable—but one adapted. I would play that way when I was away from wifi so I wouldn’t use my data.
Too many players got burned by people literally on a long airplane trip playing for hours offline and then coming online out of nowhere with thousands of points.
Now that they have fixed it (which is a good idea—but there goes my data!), any sudden jump of hundreds of points in a minute is a data dump of some kind and should be considered cheating until proven otherwise.
LVP, it's cheating not a tactic!
Cheating generally describes various actions designed to subvert rules in order to obtain unfair advantages.
Cheating in video games involves a video game player using various methods to create an advantage beyond normal gameplay, in order to make the game easier. Cheats may be activated from within the game itself (a cheat code implemented by the original game developers), or created by third-party software (a game trainer or debugger) or hardware (a cheat cartridge). They can also be realized by exploiting software bugs; this may or may not be considered cheating based on whether the bug is considered common knowledge.

Play offline for awhile not on wifi. Then connect. Thus you seem to jump ahead. Just a tactic.
Plagiarism nazi, you there? Let's set an agenda for this debate next week?
1. Are you part of the academic faculty by any chance? (Yes: I'll respond in the future; No: Forget about it)
2. In your opinion should plagiarism be held on par with intellectual property rights?
2.1. If so, how do you define these rights, incorporate it into law, enforce it?
3. Do you really feel the need to introduce plagiarism checks in informal speech on social media? Any thoughts on the numerous plagiarized links posted on social media? Did you voice your opinion to their support staff?
4. You called me spineless and indulge in plagiarism. How can an anonymous person claim credit without a name?
I'm just a medium not the creator. The knowledge I've gained till date is based on the foundation laid by others.
I'll take "Loquacity" for 2000, Alex!
A: A group of ostensibly disparate personalities, some affable, others bellicose.
Q: What is Anon?

Anonymous, I thought I wrote long posts under "players looking for Teams", but this takes 10 Million Dollar Prize!!!
Choose some fancy one ;)
Anon, you do you!

I insult, I plagiarize, I make stuff up and I am spineless. A lawyer has more backbone than I do.
I'm spinless and I have a doppelganger.
Wow, so in other words Katz is spineless?
Why would you compare your teammate with a troll? Bad blood? Previous unresolved issues? My my......
Don't look to your doppleganger for moral clarity.
I am S - P - I - N - E - L - E - S - S
I plagiarize too. I am that smart.
What Katz said:
Oh dear, Anon. The proverbial pot calling the kettle black.
PNZ, cleanup on aisle five! Someone dropped their emotional baggage. Bring a trolley. See ya on weekend ;). Take a chill pill.
I'm just a lame spineless being hurling baseless insults at people I envy. It's what I do. Good news is I don't need a chiropractor. At this point I'm way to chicken to reveal my name, ever, despite what I said. I'm that lame.
Thanks for the Yelp review Mr Hoff.
Q. You sound like a satisfied customer who regularly visits Cafe De Manco's (not sure about the exact name). Have you experienced this feature/bug/loophole/shortcut for over a month?
Oh no, not again! Questions, questions, and more questions!
PS: Do you represent PNG and currently play for PNG? Oh no another question. I need a break, see you on the weekend.
Drink atleast 8 glasses of water for the day to stay hydrated and to avoid uneven muscle buildup. It is also advisable to consider weightlifting. Do you lift?
JOHN(JACK) HOFF commented
It is not cheating it is going airplane mode to avoid stupid commercial delays. Try it sometime it makes the game more enjoyable. In updated versions airplane mode removes you from tournament. Imagine flowing smoothly from level to level.
Anon, I think Manco is referring to me. The first law of alchemy sounds good. Why exchange valuable information freely. Unless you need to level the playing field.
In other words, assuming Manco is unaware of the back button, he could easily smash 30k soon. Maybe against Whamjam? If he's unable to surpass 25k. Then it's safe to assume that he figured it out the skip animation option. If so, Why wouldn't he convey this groundbreaking research with his teammates? or he has another inner circle (inception level stuff [A dream within a dream, within a dream]). Oh no, now even I have a few questions.
