Game Rules & Descriptions of Hint Icons
What does each hint icon do?
- Rocket (& how do you earn one)
- Light Bulb (100 pts)
- Bullseye Target (200 pts)
- Butterflies (& when do they appear)
You should be able to access this info along with the rules in the support section of the settings at any time.
Can someone explain why I no longer get the boxes to choose from, but I do have binoculars??

Tippytoes - I have seen you provide such wonderful answers in so many Forums. You are truly a blessing to the Wordscapes community.
These are the basic game rules I’ve discovered playing the game:
Solve the word puzzles and earn “brilliance” points.
Brillance: The brillance points reflect the number of words and letters in the puzzle. The higher the brillance score, the more puzzles (words) have been solved—so it reflects how long a player has played and the experience with the game.
Solve words that aren’t in the puzzle to earn bonus words.
Bonus words: during non tournament play, for every bonus word you find, you earn a coin. During tournaments, the bonus words also count towards your total word count.
Coins (top right corner on puzzle page): the coins earned during game play (from bonus words, from playing the daily puzzle, from solving the bonus word in the main puzzle etc...) can be used to “buy” hints to help solve the puzzles.
Types of hint:
💡basic hint of one letter—randomly placed (usually longest unsolved word, but don’t quote me on that); if playing on a team, these are what 5 teammates helps give you.
If you have been given free hints, the number beside the 💡is the number remaining. If you see a greyed out “100” beside the 💡, you have to “pay” for them—if you press the 💡button for a hint, it will cost you 100 of your coins
🎯 bullseye is a one letter hint, but you get to chose where it goes
If you have accumulated free bullseyes, the number beside the 🎯 is the number remaining. If you see a greyed out “200” beside the 🎯, you have to “pay” for them—if you press the 🎯 button and then place the bullseye, it will cost you 200 of your coins.
🚀 rockets (looks like a firework) blast 5 letters randomly across remaining unsolved letters in words
If you have accumulated free rockets, the number beside the 🚀 is the number remaining. If you see a greyed out “300” beside the 🚀, you have to “pay” for them—if you press the 🚀button it will cost you 300 of your coins.
🐝 bees automatically fly around and randomly solve letters in a new puzzle. When you solve the word where a bee solved a letter, you will also earn free coins.
Shopping 🛒: (top right) you can buy hint packages, pay a nominal fee get rid of the ads, or watch videos etc.,. to earn free coins.
⬅️: (top left arrow) takes you out of puzzle to home page
Aa: (top left) after at least 1 word solved brings up the dictionary and meaning of the solved words (tapping on a silver word also brings up the dictionary)
Crossed arrows: (middle left) scrambles the letters
⭐️: (bottom let corner) is a list of bonus words found in the puzzle (tapping on a bonus word brings up the dictionary meaning)
Three dots: (top left) list of puzzles. You can replay any already completed puzzle by selecting it form the list up to level 6000. You do not earn any coins or brillance points when you replay a puzzle, though.
The daily puzzle is a separate puzzle from the level you’re on. By completing it each day the right way, you can earn free coins over the course of a month.
By solving the word where the butterfly 🦋 is, you get a star (if you solve a word without the butterfly, you get nothing—so try the word with the butterfly on it). The butterfly then moves to a new word. Get enough of these stars after solving the entire puzzle, you can earn 1 to 3 stars towards completing a picture. When the picture is completed, you can earn coins.
Tournament play: if you are playing while connected to the internet, after 6 pm Eastern time on Fridays, when you complete a puzzle you get automatically entered into a tournament. To access your ranking in this tournament, tap on the “star” icon at the top of the puzzle or on the star icon on the main page.
The tournaments match you randomly with 99 other people who start at the same time as you. The tournament lasts around 53 hours til Sunday night.
(If you want a shorter tournament, don’t play online from Friday 6 pm Eastern time—go back online and complete a puzzle later in the weekend.)
(If you don’t want to be in any tournament at all, just play offline from Friday 6 pm Eastern time until Sunday evening.)
You can join a team for weekend tournament play. Playing on a team allows you to “chat” with your teammates, earn free hints (💡), and earn coins if your team places well. This is a great idea if you like playing the weekend tournaments.
Some competitive teams require a certain brillance score to join and expect a contribution each weekend (your contribution to a team score is the score of your individual weekend tournament—it counts towards both)
In general, if you don’t play a lot and are unlikely to play during the weekends, joining a team may not be the best idea (don’t be that player on the team with 0 points each weekend—it may just get you booted off the team anyway)
...there is obviously more to the game than this, but this will get you started. Have fun!

Where are the rules and meaning of icons?
I have never played a game where there are no play instruction or rules to access. Very frustrating. Too bad because I love the game and challenge it presents.
No matter how many times we ask, they will never change the Icon positions nor add a confirmation. The Icons are positioned so that we WILL accidentally touch them. They want this to happen so that we keep playing. They don’t care about our enjoyment nor satisfaction.... just that we keep playing.
Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

I concur....why no rules or what brilliance points stand for!!!

Well trying to find rules and the meaning of the icons landed me on this page So I still don’t know what that rocket does or means The butterfly’s?Ok the stars at the top of the game have numbers in them I don’t have a clue how to use them.I do know a hint cost one hundred points,In the those gift boxes the most points I’ve got from one of those is about 30points!,The bullseye?I win a free hint or something I don’t know where to retrieve the hint That I won. Thus is first time ever trying a puzzle game I figured my brain could use the work out since I’ve gotten older. This is first time ever not having explanations/rules for any game??I’m puzzled..pls.help??
Agree with all comments...in settings include definitions of rocket, bee etc...also I have accidentally hit hints due to placement on screen... points hard enough to get as it is... I keep coming back though despite these irritations... just a word person I guess....

Agree. Stupidest system!! No explanation of game rules or what icons mean. What the heck are bees, arrows, piggy bank ?? HELP!!!
Agree with both these commentators. Plus. I think the cost of buying a hint, 120 points, is far far too high. It makes the game too difficult to play without regularly going to scrabble websites like Wordfind for help.
Same as Gina. I don’t understand what the icons do and when I buy a piggy bank, what does that mean or do?
This is ridiculous there are no rules anywhere? I'd like to know the answer to this too.
