FIX THE CHAT RESTRICTIONS! Ease up on the filters for chatting with your team.
Team, part of the issue with the chat restrictions is it has been tailored to prevent solicitation and abuse of minors (noble intentions) with the collateral damage being otherwise innocent words on their own are flagged. Unfortunately, words that a child predator might use to groom an unsuspecting minor seem to be caught in the middle of this (ie “special”).
There has to be a balance somewhere, but, in the grand scheme of things, personally I would err on the side of caution of protecting minors. For me the trade off is coming up with creative workarounds for these otherwise harmless words.
I foresee this being a ongoing issue—for now, try to make lemonade with the lemons 🍋 we’ve been given until they come up with a better way of monitoring/filtering the chats.
I am resending this note as your reply did not respond to the question of censoring in the Chat tool between team members. our team of 50 people were every discouraged and feel you are ignoring our concerns.
Resending my note below:
Our team are unhappy with the level of censorship we are encountering in the Chat tool. It has caused us to be unable to express simple instructions to new players about how the game works.
For example, yesterday the word "special" was starred out of a chat about special thanks to a team member for being helpful.
Today someone was trying to say that team members who were unable to contribute to this weekends tournament should be given a "pass" and not kicked off the team. The word "pass" was censored.
Is there a list of censored words, phrases? Or a person or algorithm?
Please reply by addressing the problem,
Julian, thanks for the update. Don’t give up—if they can do something with chat restrictions in a few weeks time, I’m sure they can remedy the dictionary problem much quicker.
You are not alone in your displeasure with the dictionary; I’m sure they will get the hint (maybe we need to give them 5 hints before they help us, though 😊).
Chat restrictions have changed just last night (as have bringing back the restrictive dumbed down dictionary). Now if they don’t like a word or shorthand you say, they let it post but will substitute asterisks ** for words that are stricken such as phone 📱 (mobile device) or even the Lone Ranger’s horse’s name, Trigger (if you see asterisks there, I didn’t do it; they did)!
I created a post in feedback giving heads up about being back to the dumbed down dictionary so we’ll see if they let it through. I contacted them directly about my & my teams grave disappointment in detail & while direct, I remained polite. They responded “we’re glad you’re enjoying our new dictionary feature.” Clearly they didn’t read jack, which I told them, though again, politely. My fav app for years & I may have to dump it but as a team leader of a very happy undefeated team since team inception, I can’t do that to them. Though if they become disenchanted with the app updates & decide to leave, Ive no choice but to do the same. Took me a long arduous time to build this team, it’d be a true shame.
Hey Jodi, just curious, any luck freeing your name from the chat restrictions?
Yes, unblock my name please! 🙏🏻😩🤔
FIX THE CHAT RESTRICTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tippytoes, I Wanna Be a Cowboy... Boys Don't Cry. :)
Katz, I think you’re right—I managed to type some things that used to be banned, including “I am going to ride a horse”!!!!!!!!!!
Good job everyone in your efforts at reigning in the chat restrictions—I think they may actually have done something about. 👍
PS I am going to miss saying....well, you know.
Katz, I guess it’s like trying to manoeuvre a large ship or stopping a long train—takes a bit of time but hopefully they eventually reach their destination without hitting an ice berg or derailing.
I know l’m not saying much here or have any profound insight, because....I just wanted to say one more time....
FIX the CHAT RESTRICTIONS!!!!!!
There, that felt good’
Tippytoes- You're right!
FIX THE CHAT RESTRICTIONS!
They do seem to be easing up a little, though. :)
Katz, funnily, the dictionary most seems to accept “yarn”, “strand”, and “thread” but not “brane”; there must be a theory tying this altogether—but I’m at a loss.
FIX the CHAT RESTRICTIONS!!!
PS. I just like typing that now—somewhat cathartic.
Even with the new dictionary, the game doesn't accept the word "brane."
Silverstar, I like the idea of using an alternative universe;I hear there are lots to chose from—should be more than enough for each one of the teams!
Raak shkeir Dovahkiin!!
Great ideas Tippy Toes. Juggernaut looked at quantum mechanics but moved on quickly to string theory. We are attempting to chat in an alternate universe where PF cannot see our comments. But only until chat is sorted out as it is all too exhausting.
...or type in code like Skyrim (although I am not a certified code breaker, I may have figured it out)
Other alternative solutions include:
For like minded teams—telepathy (effective until one tries to think of two things at once)
For those in open spaces—smoke signals (not good on a windy day or at night when many of us play)
For those who like physical play—body language (may need a powerful telescope if teammates are in different time zones)
For those who are really smart—quantum physics (I don’t understand this one because...well, I’m not really smart)
For everyone else, do the best you can until they FIX the CHAT RESTRICTIONS (see, I can break the code)

GAAR faas Dovahkiin!!
Emma, all good suggestions.
Besides the copy and paste before sending (which is useful for a long chat to save rewriting everything):
for a short chat “use-dashes-between-words” (tedious but effective)
For scores, use abbreviations 10K for 10000
For words with no good alternative, a mizspelling is effective (if you get it past your spell checker)
For banned common words, other similar alternatives like “telephony” for phone
They keep asking for our patience in solving this, but I do hope the are truly working in it. I wonder though, because the crown issue (ie spring crowns being shown in the summer style) is still with us, and that looks like a more straightforward issue to solve but it hasn’t been.
Within chat, I regularly copy my comment before sending it, and by so using this tactic, I may Continue to revise until the comment is allowed through. The system does not seem to care for the word “help” or “hint”. And its dislike for these words seems to intensify the more frequently one uses such terms. The first time or two it is okay, and then there are problems, so I write *help* or h*elp, or some Other variation, and when that strategy fails, I write “assistance”. For “hint”, I use clue… or I break up the advice into three
And usually that allows me to get the idea out here, but it sounds disjointed.
They say they are working on their system, but that it (at least for me) will require patience.
