FIX THE CHAT RESTRICTIONS! Ease up on the filters for chatting with your team.
I have been sending them a few emails each week, and so I definitely agree with Tippytoes. They continue to respond, but are evasive about the timeline for addressing all of our concerns.
SUGGESTION: everyone concerned about this (which should be about everyone playing), address your concerns through the “send us a message” on the main forum page as I have.
The more messages in this they get should prompt them fixing it.
(I also suggest venting your frustrations prior to writing—they are more likely to listen and to respond)

WHY HAS NO ONE FIXED THE CHAT RESTRICTIONS!!!!!????😡
你是一部 一个人觉得好。 在线下实体经济服一 你就知道是我太！！！！！！？！？？？？？？？😡
Just wanted to add my thoughts to this discussion. I find it the heighth of hypocrisy for the powers that be to censor to this absurd degree—my latest denied word was “bed”—while featuring ads for a “self pleasuring chair.” Praying that saner, cooler heads prevail.😉
Silverstar, from their response, it seems that words or phrases that are REPEATEDLY reported get added to the filter. This might explain the increasingly arbitrary banning of words that were once okay. I don’t think the location of the computer servers has anything to do with it—it looks to be just a poorly constructed computer filtering algorithm in my opinion.
I have sent three separate emails to them in the last two days; the last two have not been responded to yet. I did stress the importance of this issue to us players; hopefully they are truly acting on it. Realistically, since it seems to be a computer coding issue, they’ll need some time to fix it.
In the meantime, keep having fun as best you can and enjoy the tournament this weekend.
Silverstar, Hi! I don't have any answers to your questions except the accidental Report button press. You will be prompted with a message to report. Chat is crazy these days, isnt it? Can't even say "it." Huh?
While I'm on a quick question to Tippytoes and Opal or anyone who can help. Are we saying that if someone reports a comment on chat then those words are automatically banned? And as Opal raised - is this a problem because of where the server is? Plus occasionally a comment is 'reported' by mistake. Easy to get the little red waning up. Is this fully reported at that stage ie an accidental report?
Hi Tippytoes. Just a quick example of how mad all this censorship is. The word gay is censored which I find discriminatory in itself. The team were chatting about music and I was amazed to find that, because of this, Gloria Gaynor is also barred. Not sure which algorithm PF is using but it's not very effective.
Thank you for doing such a great job on this thankless task.
PS just completed my toe exercises ready for the weekend tourney. Enjoy.
Thank you so much for your efforts, Tippytoes! Wish more people would do what you are doing.
Opal, I sent them yet another email on the issue addressing the fact that certain players names and common phrases are being flagged. I also tried to point out the different reasons people report comments, and how their current algorithm, as I understand it, is flawed (well, that was pretty obvious).
The ball is back in their court.
Of course, I will report back here with any new info when I get it.
(I just say to myself now when I see the dreaded “you can’t say that”—i can’t because I am such a wonderful, beautiful person who prefers telepathy to typing. Of course, you knew that already, Opal, because you read my mind, too!)
TippyToes, Please keep us all posted. It has become unbearable.
Tippytoes, Totally agree with you. That report button is annoying and there are many who abuse it. Thanks for the info!
Opal, I think a key phase in their response is;
“Also, while a word or phrase is not considered inappropriate to you, that does not mean it's not offensive to another player who may have reported it previously, and therefore it had to be added to the filter.”
—> and THEREFORE IT HAD TO BE ADDED TO THE FILTER
So, I infer from this is that when people report a chat comment, if words in that comment have been reported before, they get automatically added.
The problem is, which words are the words in the chat message are truly offensive when someone reports it.—Or is it not a specific word but the overall sentiment being reported—Or is the person reporting it because they just don’t like that person and want to get rid of the comment from their chat feed.
Unfortunately, using this type of logic, the chat can only get more and more restrictive as more things get reported for whatever reason.
I am awaiting their next reply, but I don’t expect this to get resolved quickly.
My solution for now is to just try to be creative in bypassing the filter—use dashes in words or purposely change the spelling of a word by one letter etc...do the best you can 😊
Tippytoes, Or Canada, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, the UK or Ireland? Just curious. I have heard that Zoom's servers are housed in China.
TippyToes, thanks for following through on this topic. Can you ask them if the servers are housed in China or America? The software they are using for chat is ridiculous but I would not want to give up the new dictionary which came out at the same time as the restrictive chat.
Here is their second response:
“The system used is an automated-filter. It's not something that we usually manually add words to unless we find something that is inappropriate that slipped through the filter.
Also, while a word or phrase is not considered inappropriate to you, that does not mean it's not offensive to another player who may have reported it previously, and therefore it had to be added to the filter. Please take these factors into consideration when you are noticing certain words and phrases being blocked. We are working hard to ensure a safe environment for all players as the app is rated Teen and above.”
I, of course, not wanting to sleep tonight, responded—the saga continues...
Don’t bother with a list people, I just sent them another message with my own examples.
I suggested they keep it simple and restrict to words already banned in the puzzles and overt sexual terms (not implied), racial and religious slurs, and violent terms.
That’s all I can suggest; hopefully common sense prevails.
This is their response:
“Thanks for the feedback. We are working to implement some chat filters in the game. We are trying to find a balance of how restrictive the word list should be. We appreciate you patience while we work on it. “
Can people give me a list of words that have been “filtered” that shouldn’t be so I can follow this up
Ie. “riding” etc...
Be sure to let us know when you and Peoplefun get this issue resolved Tippytoes, thanks!
I sent a message to People fun expressing my concerns. Presumably others posting in this forum topic have also done so.
My solution for them was to return the restrictions to where they were a few weeks ago
Ironically, a mean spirited person can still be very cruel and nasty in the chat (this has happened on my team already for which the only real solution is to boot them from the team and report their comments) while innocent friendly banter is censored. This protects no one.
I suggest people who feel strongly about this also send a message saying as much. The more people complaining from different teams hopefully will make them reconsider the restrictions.
(If we can express ourselves freely here, why not in the chat? 🤔)
