The word "duff" is not accepted, but if you enter "duffs", it is accepted, and the dictionary entry refers to "duff" (!?!).

    On high-ranking tournaments
I've found the highest scoring in tournaments I've entered immediately after the tournaments begin (Fri 6pm EDT). That seems to attract the most motivated competitors. For example, last week I had about 5500 points, but finished second to "kaley", who scored 7600 points. On the other hand, several weeks ago I didn't enter until about 30 hours into the tournament and I was able to win with less than 2000 points.

On speed -- When I started playing tournaments, I quickly noted that speed was important -- when you get to the end and have limited time. you have to be able to score faster than your competition. When I started, I was happy to reach 200 WPH. I'm on my second time around now (level 600) and I managed an average of 500 WPH for the 11hours I played the tournament (with ads still on.). This has been just a matter of practice, being conscious of trying to keep up my speed, and using clues to avoid spending too much time when I'm stuck.
