Gareth Reece - Why would you think that’s not possible without cheating?

It looks like the loophole I described before has been closed. You can no longer hold back points from the scoreboard by killing the app as soon as you finish a level. At least I couldn’t this weekend. I am curious to see if this ends the posts about players coming out of nowhere or seemingly scoring high numbers on every round. It still won’t end the complaints about people scoring thousands of points, but that’s just a personal perception issue.

    Silverstar,

Maybe. I haven’t had as much time to play recently due to work demands, so I don’t want to take a spot and not pull my weight. If I feel like I’ll have time I’ll join up if there’s a spot open. I assume I have to join before the tournament starts on Friday evening, right?

    Mugsy,

So I guess you won’t be inviting me to join a team then, huh?

    RWalsh,

When I look at the crown progression the top crown corresponds to 350 points. Are different players seeing a different reward scale?

OK. It’s confession time. I know how to keep scores from appearing while not being in airplane mode, which apparently can’t be done anymore. If you kill the app before it adds your level stars to the total, they will stay in the temporary score and accumulate until you let them release to your total score (by not killing the app as soon as you complete a level). In this way you can see all the scores and keep other players from knowing how many points you really have.

I discovered this by accident. I was killing the app at the ends of levels as I completed them as a way of avoiding the ads. I had tried to purchase the ad removal, but it didn’t work for some reason, so I resorted to this. I wasn’t always killing the app as soon as I finished, and it was awhile before I noticed there were already points in the temporary level tally when I just started a level. Then I figured out if I killed the app quickly, it would hold onto the points until I wanted to release them.

I think this is the “ninja” method referenced by a previous poster as well. Anyway, I noticed recently that the points in the temporary tally could no longer be left there for hours on end without playing as they once could. They would just disappear if you didn’t play fairly continuously. I do enjoy playing the game and have gotten to be pretty quick - 700-800 an hour and sometimes bursts of around 1000. I hope by posting this that people understand that this kind of thing can still be done even though play in airplane mode is no longer possible.

By the way, I have most recently been playing under the name LeeroyJenkins, so if you saw me in your tournament and noticed large jumps in my score, this is why. Maybe this loophole will get closed now too. If so, I’m happy to play straight up. Just don’t want to have to wait for the dang ads!

    Peace.
